About
MIRAAA Media Festival, a border-focused film festival that curates border-based works and commissions collaborative works, is back for its second iteration in February! Our mission is to empower border artists to explore non-traditional storytelling and media through collaboration and experimentation to illuminate under-represented border narratives.
This year, the festival will highlight the work of 28 filmmakers from the Texas/Mexico border and across the world, alongside 5 commissioned new works by artists in Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley.
The festival will take place in Harlingen on Saturday February 17th at ENTRE Film Center (415 W. Jackson Ave) and Laredo on Saturday February 24th at Laredo Center for the Arts (500 San Agustin Ave). Both days will include the same program of films and an artist panel, but will incorporate local art and culture from the RGV and Laredo at their respective dates.
MIRAAA Media Festival is FREE and open to the public and includes a free communal dinner.
Programming is suitable for ages 12+ (minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
MIRAAA Media Festival is collectively organized and produced by Josue Ramirez (Trucha), Natalia Rocafuerte (independent artist), Andres Sanchez (ENTRE Film Center), C. Díaz (ENTRE Film Center), Maritza Bautista (Daphne Art Foundation), Lizett Montiel (Laredo Film Society), Andrea Ortiz (Laredo Film Society), and Norma Ortiz (Laredo Film Society).
Be sure to RSVP for the festival in Harlingen and/or Laredo,
A separate RSVP is required to join the communal dinner (more info on our Eventbrite pages).
