About
Daphne Art Foundation, with the support from the Laredo College Visual Arts Department, invites the community to an opening reception at the Martha Fenstermaker Memorial Visual Arts Gallery on Thursday, June 8 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. for the exhibition On the edge, Al Borde. This is a free event, open to all.
On the Edge, Al Borde showcases the artwork created by eight up-and-coming young Laredo artists that explore edgy themes with their work. The exhibition will include 40 works in a variety of media including painting, silkscreen, video, photography, digital art, and mixed media.
The exhibiting artists featured in On the Edge, Al Borde are Alexander Barron, Alejandro Cortinas, Genesis Victoria Hernandez, Kassandra Romero, Homero Salazar, Raul Seca, Jr., Gabriela Treviño, and Martha Viera. The artists are all native to Laredo and have exhibited their works at various venues locally, creating a buzz about how they use materials, found objects, and their personal lives to speak on topics about surveillance, animal rights, women’s autonomy, and chronic health conditions, among others.
This exhibition is presented with the support from The Prairie Foundation and the Visual Arts Department at Laredo College. It will be on view at the Martha Fenstermaker Memorial Visual Arts Gallery from June 8 to the end of August.
