Casa Arte and Schwartz Gallery

Frontera Beer and Wine Garden

3301 San Bernardo Avenue

Working in the Schwartz Gallery are C-Studio Artists Andres Padilla and Pedro Morales. In the gallery Casa Arte are C-Studio Artists Kassandra Romero and Oscar López, III.

Andres Padilla is a self taught rasquache artist from the gutters of South Laredo. He has been creating stuff from whatever he can get his hands on for as long as he can remember; mixing trash and treasure, morbid imagery with a sense humor. His mantra is ”You gotta make the best of what you got. ¡Arriba los Rasquaches!” Pedro Morales (Los Angeles, CA, 1963) earned bachelor of architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington (1990) and master of architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture (1996) in Los Angeles and Switzerland. He worked with Frank O. Gehry architects in the summer of 1996 and opened antares architecture studio in Laredo, Texas in 1997. In 2014 participated in an art residency in San Ygnacio, Texas under the guidance of Michael Tracy and worked as his studio assistant until 2015. Kassandra Romero  is a painter, printmaker, and art educator from Laredo, Texas. She earned a BA in Art with teaching certification from TAMIU (2022). She has presented work in Texas Association of Schools of Art’s juried show, “Artovation” (2021), K Space Contemporary’s Schaudies Gallery group exhibition, and “Quince” (2022). In 2023, Kassandra curated the exhibition Sue Coe: Look Through My Eyes, Animal and Human Rights at TAMIU, and presented her first solo exhibition, “Camino de Reencuentro” at Casa Ortiz. Oscar A.Lopez III is a writer, researcher, and photographer from the U.S.-Mexico border. His art seeks to capture the beauty in the mundane, social movements, and life on the border. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation and is working to alleviate food insecurity in his hometown as a member of the Laredo Food Policy Council.

Open to multi-disciplinary visual, media and performance artists, C-Studio is a program of Daphne Art Foundation designed to support the professional and artistic growth of artists by giving them time and space to pursue, experiment with, and develop ideas. During their tenure, artists engage in conversation with other artists, a supportive mentor, and other creative professionals.  Don’t miss this opportunity to get a sneak peek of work in progress and to ask artists questions about their work and creative processes!
